North Beach’s Annual Meet & Greet unites the community in celebration
North Beach came alive as residents and guests gathered for the highly anticipated Annual Meet & Greet event. On a picturesque summer Saturday, the La Serina Mermaid at the 5000 Boardwalk high-rise complex became the focal point for a night filled with friendship, recognition of our neighbors, and storytelling.
The North Beach Residents Association organized the event with the aim of fostering community bonds and honoring outstanding individuals. As the evening unfolded, the association presented its annual college scholarship and Citizen of the Year awards, leaving attendees brimming with pride for their tight-knit neighborhood.
Amidst the joyful atmosphere, Maddy Connolly, a resident of the North Beach area, received a $2,000 college scholarship. The scholarship, which will support Maddy's literary & Jewish studies at Stockton University, will be disbursed over the course of two years. This marked the fourth consecutive year that the association bestowed this prestigious scholarship upon a deserving North Beach student attending Stockton, Atlantic Cape Community College, or Atlantic County Institute of Technology.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the community, resident Jenna Weinerman was honored as the Citizen of the Year. Jenna’s volunteer efforts in creating our new website drew accolades from all corners. The upcoming website will streamline communication, ecommerce, and marketing for our association. We can now sell event tickets and North Beach merchandise online – check it out!
During the event, Co-Chair Richard Gober emphasized the advantages of joining the North Beach Residents Association. Among these perks is the opportunity to enjoy a 10% discount at various local merchants – purchase your membership here.
The event's guest speaker, Nanette LoBiondo Galloway, delighted the audience with her captivating tales from her 25-year career as a journalist, with the last decade dedicated to covering the Downbeach area. She entertained our guests with stories of remarkable individuals she had encountered, including local Miss New Jersey candidates, Holocaust survivor Betty Grebenschikoff of Ventnor, and Gen. Charles McGee, a distinguished Tuskegee Airman.
As the night drew to a close, the North Beach Meet & Greet event left us with strengthened community ties and renewed pride that epitomizes our beloved coastal neighborhood.
